Thanks for the Memories!
Baby Grand Road Racers
December 7, 2006
It is hard to believe that it has been over 10 years, since we first laid eyes on our first Baby Grand Stockcar at the PRI Show in Reno, Nevada. We were there with our Dynojet Dynamometer and found this great little car. Brett and I knew immediately that it was where we wanted to be in the racing world.
A lot has transpired in the past 10 years. We have seen people come and go... the original owners, Linda and Tom Craven, Bob White and of course Chris the Baby Grand Guru, who we drove crazy, trying to learn all we could about these cars and making a road racing car out of a circle track car. We have sold 29 new cars and brought together over 15 used car buyers. We have been providing service to Road Racing Baby Grand Drivers across the country and have truly enjoyed getting to know the Baby Grand Family.
We developed a Road Racing Series with SCCA and NASA and spent some time with MMRA. We attempted to make this the best road racing series out there, but we just never could get the numbers needed to make it grow the way we envisioned. We have put our heart and soul into this program and it is time for us to move on. As we mentioned a few months ago, we had made the decision to sell Baby Grand Stockcars of California. Well we have found the perfect person, and shop to provide all kinds of service for our Baby Grands.
KC of BRG Racing, Pacheco, CA will be taking over for all parts and service. He has been supplying service and parts to the BG circle trackers and Legends for quite some time now. KC and Chris are very knowledgeable and have extensive motorcycle engine and road racing background. They have been to our road races several times this past season and will continue to provide track support for the Road Racing Baby Grands and the Legends. BRG Racing will carry almost all of the Baby Grand Parts. They provide, engine, exhaust, setup and a host of other services, including chassis dyno tuning. They are a One Stop Shop for your Baby Grands, whether you circle track or road race. They will be your source for the Goodyear Road Race tire ( we have over 100 in stock)! For the Nor Cal BG racers KC can also mount and balance tires. Their number is toll free 877 743 3274. The web address is www.BRGRacing.com. For all of our national Road Racers, you can call and order all the parts we used to carry. BRG Racing will carry our full inventory of parts to ship out, including shift lights.
Due to NASA changing their national Class structure, we have made the decision to disband our Baby Grand National Road Race Challenge Series. Due to the low numbers the past 3 years, the Baby Grand Class was one of over 40 classes to be cancelled nationwide. We are still welcome to run at any NASA event and even the Nationals at Mid Ohio. We will be in a class called PTA.
Now to enter, you will sign up in a Class called PT-A.(Performance Touring) You can visit NASA's web site and see the rules for this class. The Baby Grand with it's existing Road Race rules will be considered a stock car. If you want to run your car stock per all the rules, you will be in the PT "A" class. Running for NASA points against several other types of cars, all considered stock. If you modify, you will be assessed points which will put you in a tougher class with other makes and models who have also modified.
We will always have a place to race with NASA, however, with this new class structure, I do not see how we would be able to have any type of consistency in the Baby Grands to hold a national series, Thus the end of Baby Grand National Road Race Challenge. I do believe that each NASA Region should group together and keep the class pure! Encourage your fellow racers to keep these cars spec and run in the PT group until numbers grow again! You can start at the back and take a separate green flag start and thus run together. Brett and I will be racing in this group in Nor Cal Region and doing our best to encourage all Baby Grands to run by the rules.... keeping it affordable and spec. We will qualify to run at the NASA Nationals in the PTA class...
We will be waiting for the day that the numbers warrant our Baby Grand Class again. But until that time, lets go have fun kicking some PT ASS!
We want to thank the countless friends and customers we have grown to know so well...across the nation and in several different countries. We will miss you. Don't hesitate to drop me a email to let me know how your are doing... But for all BG questions and services contact KC at BRG Racing.
We look forward to racing our Baby Grand for many years to come...After all this will be our ninth season with the same car! Most of you know our car as the Jeff Gordon Replica.. Well in 2007 she will be sporting a new paint scheme. Promoting our new business, EXPO DAILY. You can visit our site at www.expodaily.us . We are opening our new store in Sacramento, April 1, 2007.
It has been a great journey! We will keep the site up with all of BRG Racing information! and all the Tech information. Take care and thanks for the memories.
